WHAT TO EXPECT

What Equipment Do I Need?

Laptop or Desktop Computer

An up-to-date windows-based laptop or desktop computer is required; this means it needs to have an operating system that is compatible with the client's software, and while each client may have different needs, at minimum they require an operating system of Windows 11, at least 4GM of RAM, 20 GB of available hard drive space and 60 GB of total hard drive space, processor speed of i3, i5, i7, i9 or higher with Intel, PENTIUM G5400/N6400, XEON E CLASS, CELERON J4000/N5000, AMD RYZEN 3, or ATHLON 3000.

If you have a laptop, the screen needs to be at least 15 inches if you are not connecting it to a monitor. No All-In-One's, Microsoft Surface, Macbooks, or Chrome OS based PC or Chromebooks are accepted. Some Clients have unique needs, so be sure to check the "View Details" button for their specific computer requirements. Dual Monitors are highly recommended, as they will make navigating your visual work a lot easier.  A USB-3 Port is also required.   See recommended low-cost options.

Coding Workspace Setup

Comfortable & Quiet Office Space

In this position, a comfortable and quiet space is needed to serve as a dedicated workstation or office. This space can be decorated in any way that you see fit; that could mean a new office chair, desk, pens and sticky notes, a Keurig, desk photos, wall decor, or anything else to create your ideal work environment. Research online can provide you with plenty of ideas for Soundproofing and decorating a home office or workspace. Make sure to keep all receipts, as these purchases may qualify as tax write-offs; as a 1099 contractor, most of what is purchased to execute the job responsibilities can be deducted (i.e., "written-off") from your taxable income. This includes computer & phone equipment/headset, modem, cost of internet services, etc. Consult a CPA for more information and advisement on filing your income tax returns as an independent contractor.

Home Office Desk

USB Headset

A USB Headset is required for Certification to take calls. Make sure to check the "View Details" button to verity whether the client requires the use of a landline phone or just the USB headset. The majority of our clients use USB headsets. High-quality, inexpensive headsets can be purchased from Amazon or Walmart. The headset needs to have a noise cancellation feature.  You will need a USB-3 port on your laptop or PC to accommodate this.  See our recommended products page HERE.

Logitech, Plantronics, Microsoft, or similar brands are popular with our Service Partners. Examples:

Working As An Independent Contractor (1099)

1

What is a 1099 Independent Contractor?

A 1099 is a tax form used in the
United States to report income
received from sources other than an employer. It is typically used by
Independent Contractors, Freelancers, and Self-Employed
individuals to report income earned from their work.

2

What Does that Mean
to Me?

As an Independent Contractor,
you are not an employee of the
client, which means you have
more control over your work
schedule and how you complete
your tasks. You will generally be
responsible for paying your own
taxes and providing your own
equipment and supplies, so you'll e free to choose the projects & schedule that work best for you.

3

What Are the Benefits
to Me?

Some of the benefits include
freedom to work on your own terms, working from wherever you want, and more! No more paying for gas, parking & transportation. No need for a professional wardrobe. No more expensive breakfast & lunch purchases. The amount of money you'll save by working from home is significant.
